Kind of a let down

I had grand plans for today.......I really did. We had found a pumpkin patch/corn maze that said they had a playground and all this other neat stuff we thought the girls would enjoy. So after the girls woke up from their morning nap we pack them up into the van and start the hour drive to the pumpkin patch. We finally get there, (the girls protesting the whole way) and the pumpkin patch is some random pumpkins scattered around, the playground was a swingset and the cornmaze was well, there.....we didn't even stop.
Instead we got lunch at Zaxby's hit up a roadside stand selling pumpkins and came home (with the girls still protesting being in their car seats despite being able to watch a haloween episode of yo gabba gabba). Rachel fell asleep half way home, but Emma did not, so now Emma is fast asleep whilst Rachel is wide awake.... This may make for a rough bed time.....
The Packers play the Vikings tonight and the way my day/week has gone, I fear for my beloved Pack.

Baby Update

The girls are in bed for the night, here's to hoping tonight is better than last night. The doc said it was just a bug that is going around and there really wasn't anything more I could do than put a cool mist humidifier on in their room. Ears, nose, and throat all looked fine, and lungs sounded good. They were very well behaved for her which shocked  me. They both held very still while she checked them out, and were quiet when she was trying to listen to their lungs. Emma had gone first and while Rachel was getting checked out, Emma was doing her little happy dance around the room. She asked what I had already been doing and said I was doing a good job when I told her which sounds kind of silly but I thinking I really needed to hear it. Even though I'm a nurse, it's so much different at work when you have numbers and information and someone else to tell you what to do. Its so much different when they are your own!
I'm not too far from bed myself, gotta take care of a few things, then I'm off!

The Long Night

Ugh. Sick babies at night = a tired mommy in the morning. Emma seemed to suffer the worst of it, she woke up about every hour crying and rolling around. Rachel woke up a few times as well but was able to go back to sleep on her own. Once they got up this morning (which was around 7. Doesn't seem to matter what time they fall asleep they get up at 7), they seemed fine; they ate breakfast well, they've been playing, they don't have temps, but they still look pitiful. They've got dark purple bags under their eyes and still look a bit pale.
I called the peds office to see what I could do for them, and they want to see them, since it seems to be worse when they lay flat, so I'll be taking them in this afternoon. I'll let you know when we get back.

Hello Again World

A lot has changed since my last blog posts, so I have decided to begin anew. This first post is going to be pretty short.
Since my last post we've welcome two healthy little girls into the world. They came 2 months early and had to spend 3 and a half weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit while the learned to eat and grow. Otherwise they've been normal little girls! They are now 15 month old little monkeys. I say they've been healthy but the last two days have been a little rough. The girls have caught their first cold, and they have been miserable! I'm not sure though who feels worse, the girls or mommy and daddy.....
On that note, me thinks this mommy needs to get some sleep while she can! The girls are restless and I do believe its going to be a long night. Might try to get them into the doctor tomorrow, but I'll try to keep you updated!
